Well done to the Calasanctius College Junior football team, who today defeated a very good Glenamaddy CBC in a tough encounter in Beacon on a score line of 3-08 (17) to 1-06 (9).
It was a winner takes all game with the victor progressing to the Connacht Colleges B semi final.
Calasanctius got off to a super start with a brilliant goal from Fionn Fahy, who drove forward from his centre back position to finish into the net. But there was nothing between the teams and Calasanctius were ahead by the bare minimum at half time.
Again Calasanctius got the second half off to a brilliant start with a expertly struck goal by full forward Mathew Allan just 3 min in to the 2nd half. A third followed with Alan Burke fisting to the net.
A super defensive performance by the boys and despite conceding a penalty Calasanctius held on for a win that qualifies them for a semi final next Monday verse St. Attractas CS Tubbercurry. The game will be played in the Connacht Centre of excellence at 12.30pm next Monday 27th Nov.
Best of luck to all involved.
