The following is a further update on ongoing developments for Phase I of the Renville Project over the last couple of months:
a. We submitted our top-up grant application to the LSSIF grant to the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media in August. They are currently reviewing the applications they have received. Not clear when a decision will be made but probably in the next couple of months. They have also informed us that they want to tie this decision in with finalisation of legal agreements for the grant, which will cause some delays, but should not have any major overall impact.
b. HorganLynch is continuing to work away with finalising the plans for Phase I and developing the comprehensive tender documentation (drawings, specifications, contractual docs, etc.) that is required for the Main Works Contract. By the end of this month we will be submitting the tender package to the Department of Sport in Killarney for review and approval by the OPW (Office of Public Works). They use the OPW as their consultant on the LSSIF projects.
c. At the same time we will be submitting the tender documentation to the National Infrastructure Committee in Croke Park for their review and advice on it.
d. We have completed Stage 1 (pre-qualification stage) of the tender for the Main Works Contract and 5 companies have submitted pre-qualification documentation. Stage 2 will be the main tender stage and we will have to await the outcome of the reviews/approvals above before we can progress to this stage.
e. The current plan would be to be in a position to award the contract early next year and have groundworks started by early spring. We had hoped to start by the end of year, but in any case it would not be advisable to undertake major groundworks during the winter months.
f. The revised overall schedule for the project up to the end of Phase I is shown below for info.
g. We also recently submitted a detailed application through Galway County Council for a grant to undertake the development of the lit walkways around the grounds, plus other ancillary facilities.
Kind Regards,
