Calasanctius juvenile (U15) footballers progressed to the Connacht semi-finals earlier today following a 6-12 to 2-08 victory over St Ciaran's, Athlone in a very entertaining match played in the Connacht GAA Dome in Beken.
This was a much anticipated top of the table clash between the two unbeaten sides in Group 2 of the competition and despite a nervy opening spell, the Oranmore lads eventually settled into the task and produced some of their best football of the season to date. Displaying a huge work rate throughout the team, the scores eventually started to flow as the first half progressed and the Calasanctius lads brought a very healthy lead into half time.
Despite the best efforts of a gallant St Ciaran's side, the Oranmore team struck some key scores at crucial times through the second half and held out for an impressive win which will see them contest the provincial semi final later in April.
