Oranmore Maree One Club held our annual Camogie & Hurling Cúl Camp last week. 240 kids, ranging in ages from 6 to 13, participated and enjoyed the 5 days of the Cúl Camp.

The weather for the week was unfortunately very wet, but we were able to get out on the pitches for almost all of the week and the kids enjoyed themselves throughout the week.

Some great skill and determination was on show and we hope the kids gained something from their week and will continue to improve their game over the rest of the summer and beyond.

On Friday, we had a visit from the All-Ireland U16 Camogie Championship Cup, which was brought by our own Roisín Coleman and Ella Tarpey, who were members of the victorious Galway panel in early May. Alongside Ella & Roisín, many of our Junior Coaches played on Galway minor teams in all codes this year, so well done to them for passing on their experience to the younger kids.

We were also delighted to have Senior Oranmore Maree & Galway players Rachael Hanniffy, Diarmuid Hanniffy, Gearoid McInerney and Ryan O’Donnell who came along and signed Hurls, Helmets and Jumpers for the kids..

We are hugely grateful to all our Junior Coaches who coached and mentored the kids for the week, the Oranmore Maree One Club Adult Coaches who volunteered to supervise last week, and to our Camp Co-Ordinators Jack Grealish, Ruben Davitt and Anthony Keady. We wish Jack, Ruben and Anthony well in the upcoming Senior Hurling Championship.

We are thankful to the Oranmore Community Centre and the Maree Community Development Association whose facilities were kindly made available to us and who had the pitches in such good shape for the camp, especially in the very wet conditions that prevailed.
