The under 19 B footballers took on St. James’ this evening in the first championship match. The game was played in perfect conditions.
This is the third meeting in recent times of these 2 sides and St James’ have dominated so it was interesting to see oranmore maree holding their own for the first quarter. Helped by a goal from Ethan Reck and points from the forwards and mid fielders oranmore maree gave as good as they took for that period. However, St James’ scored 3 goals in the first half and headed to the dressing room at half time with a cushion. They managed possession well in the second half and picked off a goal and 4 points. But oranmore maree created their share of opportunities and converted 6 points.
The final score was 4:14 to st james and 1:12 to oranmore maree.
There were a lot of positives from the game including the number of younger players who will no doubt feature in years to come for our club.
