This note is to give you an update on progress on our Renville Project. Some recent pictures from the site are shown below. While the weather was great from the start of the works in March to near the end of May (allowed a lot of the main groundworks to be completed), the last two months have been less favourable with June being the wettest month so far in the year and July the second wettest! This has slowed work on the site, but as you can see from the photos below, we are still making good progress, with the following summary for the 4 pitches:
A. Pitch No. 1 (Main Pitch) – main drainage installed, with next step to spread topsoil.
B. Pitch No. 2 (Second Pitch) – groundworks largely completed, though not much happening on this pitch at the moment with focus on other 3 pitches.
C. Pitch No. 3 (Astro) – good progress on this one with fencing started and most of the foundations completed for the floodlights (they should go up this month) and the ball stop nets. Astro carpet and shockpad rolls have been delivered to site and will be laid once fencing is complete.
D. Pitch No. 4 (Lower Pitch) – top soil spread on this and installation of slit drains progressing (sand and seed to be spread next).
Overall, the Astro pitch is on schedule to be completed this year. Pitches 1 and 4 will be completed this year also and will be playable by next year. Unless we get a very good next 3 months, it is likely that Pitch 2 will not be completed until next year and then be playable in 2027.
Also, the Renville Management Committee would like to wish the best of luck to Ailish, Rachel and Rόisín in the All Ireland Camogie Final this afternoon – Gaillimh Abú. And good luck to Enda Loughnane refereeing the junior final today in Croke Park.
