Oranmore maree u19b took on Oughterard in an epic battle at home this evening the 20th. 
Oughterard had a confident start and looked like they were going to completely dominate the game, Tagging on 3 nice points from play before oranmore opened their account. Oughterard scored a total of 2:9 in the first half but Oranmore managed a goal of our own and not one but two 2 pointers from play. The half time score was 1:6 to 2:9. 6 points seemed like a significant mountain to climb but the oranmore maree lads were not found wanting in the task. The second half was bad for the heart but very good for the footballing soul. Oranmore Maree reduced the deficit to a single point through sheer guts and determination. Oughterard were trying to play a possession game and wind down the clock but oranmore just wouldn’t let them. It took Oughterard 12 min to register a point in the second half and oranmore maree responded with a third 2 pointer from play. The last few mins of the game were played in front of the Oughterard goal but they defended their lead of 4 points to see out the match. By far the match of the season (despite the result) for this bunch of lads who span 06, 07 and indeed 08. A great night to be involved in football. Final score Oranmore Maree 1:13 Oughterard 3:11.
