It is great as we move into spring to see the success of our 4G Astro pitch – the feedback from all users is that we have a top class facility here in the club.  Every evening and all day Saturday and Sunday the pitch is going flat out, with lots of our club teams getting to use it (a small reminder to all players/management teams to use the correct footwear – plastic or moulded stud boots only to be used – we have made a huge investment in the 4G Astro and therefore need to protect it to get the long term benefits).

Also, towards the end of last year, we submitted a new planning application for the project.  In addition to addressing some minor pitch layout changes that occurred for construction reasons, we also included planning for an updated design of the Dressing Room Building (with larger dressing rooms) and an updated location for our proposed ballwall.  Thankfully, the full Planning Permission was awarded by Galway County Council this month.  This is great as it allows us to progress with the key developments planned for this year, including the following:

a.       Complete the construction of Pitch No. 2 – due to weather related delays we were unable to get this completed last year.
b.       Add floodlights to Pitch No. 2 – this will be the first full size floodlit grass pitch in the parish and therefore a huge benefit to our teams.
c.       Construct the low level lit walkways around the grounds (Phase II of the project), which we have received some funding from the government through the ORIS grant.
d.       Undertake landscaping works along the Western boundary with the cemetery – note that we are getting substantial free donations of tree and hedge plants from Trees on the Land foundation and the BurrenBeo Trust, which we will be planting this spring.  Also, TY students from Calasanctius College will be planting trees on the grounds as part of the Future Leaders Native Tree Planting Initiative.
e.       Construct the new Dressing Room Building near the entrance to the 4G Astro.

The latter item will be a major challenge for the club as we will be 100% funding this from our own resources (and bank loan) and will therefore be looking for all the support that we can get to deliver this absolutely vital facility for the project.  More anon on this.

Re fundraising, note that we were still selling tickets online for the 2026 GAA National Club Draw for the next 2 weeks (great prizes on offer – first prize of a brand new Toyota Corolla Hybrid car, second prize of €20,000, 3rd prize of €10,000, plus other prizes).

A big thanks for everyone that bought tickets in the sales before Xmas, as 100% of the sales go to the Renville Project - If you didn’t get a chance to buy any tickets, please note that tickets can be bought online in our shop on ClubZap – click on the following link - NCD Tickets

Thank you and best of luck.
